He giveth His beloved sleep...

I have been reading through the book of Psalms, and God has truly been working in my life through His Word. Like me, you have probably read this Psalm before, but honestly, I have never really noticed 127:2... perhaps because I am quite familiar with verses 1 and 3, I simply overlooked 2. It says this: "It is in vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep."

Sleep is a gift from God. A gift given to those who accomplish the tasks that God would have them to accomplish to the best of their ability. Taking on those tasks in our own strength or taking on more than God would have us do is all in vain. We inevitably lose sleep and likely still do not finish all we think we must do. But for those who seek daily to do His will and only His will, He gives them sleep, and not just any sleep—probably the kind of sleep Jesus experienced in Mark 4:38, sound sleep in the midst of a great storm.

Anyway I thought this was such a great verse! Applicable to all types of people... People who accomplish little in a day and people who try to accomplish too much.

Then there are people like me... Who experience both types of days. Haha :)
