lesson learned from a two year old.

The other day I was working in the nursery, and like every good nursery worker, I was playing with the toys (with the children, of course), specifically with the building blocks. No age will ever stifle the entertainment I find in building a tower out of blocks. Anyway, as I was masterfully constructing my structure, one of the darling children insisted on helping. Instinctively, I wanted to push him away, collect my blocks, and hide in a corner to continue creating my masterpiece. As a twenty-five year old woman, thankfully, I did not act on my instincts; so I allowed the little boy to "help." And with his two year old expertise, we were able to build a spectacular tower of no more than one foot high before it collapsed.

He was upset. Not that it had been destroyed, but that he had no part in the destruction. (Even a two year old knows that demolition is the best part of building blocks.) 

Well, I decided to appease him. I told him that he had to let me build the tower all by myself, and then when I had used all the blocks to make the tower as tall as possible, he could knock it down. After a bit more persuasion, he finally allowed me to build by myself, and so I constructed the most magnificent four-foot tower you could have ever laid eyes on. Moments later, with one glorious rush upon my monument to childhood, it was eradicated.

When God is building, whether it be a church, a home, a relationship, or a life. God will put all the pieces together in His time. He has a masterplan. He is constructing something incredible, but we must allow Him to work through every detail. When we try to take control, we allow flaws that will inevitably weaken the structure, and it will fall. Sit back and allow the Creator of the universe to complete His masterpiece. 

...And fear thee not, no two year old will come after and destroy what God has created. Thankfully, what God builds, God protects.
